GLASSES FOR YOUR PROFESSION

Picking the ideal glasses for your profession can be tricky, here’s some information that should make the choice a little easier.

OFFICE-BASED PROFESSIONALS –

Those of us that work in an office have to face many factors that can put a great deal of strain on our eyes.
Staring at a computer monitor for extended periods of time can lead to eye strain so it is a good idea to take breaks and rest your eyes as often as you can.
On top of this, most glasses now come with the option of adding an ‘anti-reflective’ or AR coating, used to reduce/eliminate glare from the screen and your lenses which can lead to eye strain.

Another feature that could prove useful is ‘Blue light control’. Protective lenses with a special coating designed to reflect and minimise high-energy blue light penetration are an option.  Thanks to blue light filter coatings, the harmful portion of the blue light is cut while allowing the good portion of blue light to pass through. Blue light control lenses allow the safe portion of blue light to pass through the lenses but minimise the amount of harmful blue light that passes through and into the eyes.

SPORTS PROFESSIONS -

Athletes of all kinds can require glasses or sunglasses and there are plenty of options to choose from. It is important for sports glasses to be comfortable and secure so that they don’t become loose or fall off during exercise.
These glasses also need to be durable and robust so that if they do come loose or are dropped, they won’t be damaged.
Photochromatic glasses may be the ideal choice for those who take part in sports and exercise that requires them to be outside for most of the day. These glasses will adjust to the levels of sunlight that you face, making them perfect for any time of day. Take a look at our selection of sports glasses to find the pair that’s right for you. OUTDOOR PROFESSIONALS -

Those working in professions that require them to be outdoors for most of the day will face similar challenges to those that work in the sports industry. The challenges may be greater, however, as they may have to face even more challenges and harsher conditions. This means that the glasses you choose will have to be particularly robust and will have to be able to deal with the elements such as lower temperatures and dusty or sandy conditions. The weather can be unpredictable so glasses with a scratch-proof coating as well as waterproofing and anti-fogging treatments may be a good idea, depending on the conditions and your situation.

TRAVEL PROFESSIONALS -

Those that drive buses, trains or taxis will have to be particularly careful of the sun, as well as the rain. There are plenty of driving-specific glasses out there that can greatly improve vision during the day and at night, which can be just as challenging. Antiglare technology would do a great deal in combatting the glare produced by the sun and windscreens, as well as helping to reduce rain glare, caused cause when sunlight is reflected off wet roads or buildings due to the rain.
